a book about friendships of different women in Kansas during the "dust bowl". I really enjoyed this book, it told of women who can come together in hard times and protect each other. Maybe thats what we need more of even today. Now I will have to find more of this authors books.

This book is testament to the fact that groups of women often have more in common than in differences. It's the story of a quilting circle reminiscent of Chiaverini's series. This one features small-town Kansas farm women and their quilting group, The Persian Pickle Club (named after a quilt of course) is the center of daily life for many of the members.

The books ends with something of an Agatha Christie twist, unexpected but enjoyable.

I have another book by the same author and I'm looking forward to reading that one after enjoying this so much.

This was the second book by this author that I have read, and I was not disappointed. I really enjoy reading historical fiction, and the author did a great job of developing the personalities of the main characters based on what it was like to live through the Dust Bowl era of the mid-west. You just couldn't help caring about these women and the trials they were going through to keep their farms and their families together. I will be pming the next person in line to receive this book and its companion.

After enjoying Alice's Tulips so much I couldn't wait to get started on this one. I wasn't disappointed. Once again Sandra Dallas has managed to bring to life an era I knew very little about. I did find the ending a little hard to swallow, but that did not marr my enjoyment. Again, I loved the details about the quilting, and my fingers are just itching to get sewing.

I have pm'ed quizgirl for her address.

This was a really interesting story, with a nice twist to the end. Since this is a bookray and I'm last on the list, I'll be sending it on to a fellow bookcrosser in Queensland to keep the ray moving.
