Fell off Santa's sleigh and into my letterbox. Thank you Secret Santa (aka Mistlerose).

I opened the parcel early because my family is about to descend on me for Christmas and I'll be short of time.

I'm really looking forward to reading this book; Jonathan Kellerman is one of my favourite writers.

Journal Entry 4 by pinkozcat from Claremont, Western Australia Australia on Friday, January 6, 2006
Like all of Jonathan Kellerman's books, this one is well written and keeps the reader's interest right up to the last paragraph. Thank you, Secret Santa. :)

The downside of the book was that some nice people were hurt ... and I preferred Robin to Allison but maybe I'm just resistant to change. And of course, there was the obligatory psychopathic killer for Petra, Milo and Alex to deal with.

I enjoyed this book and think that it is good enough to spread around so I might turn it into a bookring for all the Kellerman fans out there.

The Blurb:

"LAPD homicide detective Milo Sturgis has summoned his friend, psychologist Alex Delaware, to the fashionable gallery where a promising young artist has been brutally garrotted on the night of her first major showing. What makes it a strange case is the lack of any obvious motive, and the luridly careful staging of the murder scene - which immediately suggests to Alex not an impulsive crime of passion but the meticulous and taunting modus operandi of a serial killer.

Alex's suspicion is borne out when he compares notes with Milo's associate, Petra Connor, and her new partner, a strange, taciturn detective with a past of his own named Eric Stahl. The Hollywood cops are investigating the vicious death of Baby Boy Lee, a noted blues guitarist, fatally stabbed after a late-night set at a local club.

What links Baby Boy's murder with that of painter Juliet Kipper is the shadowy presence of an abrasive fanzine writer. This alias-shrouded critic's love-the-art/distain-the-artist philosophy and his morbid fascination with the murders leads Alex and the detecties to suspect they're facing a new breed of celebrity stalker - one with a fetish for killing rising stars, who's made cold-blooded murder his own chosen art form."

In due course I'll offer this book as a bookring if there is any interest.

I really enjoyed this book. A bit different with the chapters told from different points of view but nevertheless a good read. I enjoyed it all the more since I received an email from the author himself saying how much he appreciates his Australian audience!

Now its on its way to AMberC

Another good Jonathan Kellerman story. Enough twists and turns to keep the suspense going, and all done believably. I liked the looks into the personal lives of the main characters and look forward to seing how the partnership between Eric and Petra develops.

posting to alinci-g this afternoon.

Just to make you all jealous, JK just sent me an email letting me know that Faye's new novel Straight into Darkness has just come out in paperback.

He says it's a riveting thriller about a serial killer plying his trade in 1929 Munich.

I've told him that if he and Faye are ever in Australia again, his BC fans would make sure he was looked after!!

Enjoyed JK once again. Incorporating the characters personal lives into the story makes you feel part of the story yourself - not to mention wanting to get the next book to see how they develop LOL. The perfect "to be continued..." And looking forward to coninuing.

Holding to return to pinkozcat as I have others to go in the same parcel.
