Found this in a basket of books at Kevin's. I started reading this once in college, but I had borrowed it from the library and had to turn it in before I finished it. I'm going to start reading this, but I'm currently reading a few other books, so I'm sure it'll take me awhile.
I finally finished this today!
I thought it was really well written, but it took me forever to read it because there is so much information packed into this book.
I loved Ayla's character though she brought a lot of trouble on herself at times. The ending was a little bit heavy. The idea of her being forced to leave her child (or at least the idea that she didn't think there was any way she could take him with her) made me sad and a little bit angry at her.
Oh, and I also thought it was sad the way they basically raised a bear cub to make it tame and then speared the unsuspecting bear as a grown up. But I'm a crazy animal lover type.
I'm going to try to sneak this one away from Kevin who is still holding out hope that he's going to read it "some day"...maybe I'll find a non-BC copy to replace it. And I'll put this in a book box of some sort.
