One Writer's Beginnings / Eudora Welty.
2 journalers for this copy...
This is the story of Eudora Welty's writing voice, offered up to us by this dear but unsentimental storyteller. It is a beautiful read, richly descriptive of her life and how it inspired her fiction. Her chapters are aptly titled: Listening, Learning to See and Finding a Voice. This was an unlikely bestseller when it came out in 1983. This little paperback edition is still in good shape with photos and many more readings available. I like this comment from the frontpiece blurbs:
"She shows us all how close we are to literature if we only knew it. After reading her book we might go back and reexamine our lives and feel better about them...There isn't a single slip or false note in One Writer's Beginnings." ---The New York Times
