I found the book this morning, Wednesday, September 11, in Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia. Especially on this day, I was drawn to the word "survival" and I knew I should adopt the book when I saw that it was about a Cambodian child. I've been concerned about my sense that too many Americans consider "our" pain and loss somehow more real or significant than that of other peoples around the world. I plan to read the book and pass it on thoughtfully.
