Have registered my personal copy to contribute (not permanently I hope! - but I'm realistic about my chances of being reunited with it) to tantan's Booker Prize Ring of Books. Here's a link to the mailing list - I'll be sending it to Kuwait (that's a first for me) shortly. Enjoy!

I've finished reading this book. It's a good read. and i enjoyed it alot :)
It tells the story of Patrick Clarke a ten year old boy. The whole books is written from the perspective of Patrick which makes the book so great. There are the minute details of a ten year old observations and confusions to some events in his life.
It is so sad to see that there are some cruelty among paddy and his friends, especially towards his younger brother.

thank you so much for sharing this book with everyone :)

I PM'd the next person and im waiting the reply

So very, VERY sorry for holding up this book. I'm afraid I really can't afford the time to read it. Am cutting down my Mount TBR and have pulled out of the Booker Prize bookrings already.

Sending this on to fushmush.

This novel really captures the thoughts, imagination and worries of a ten year old. So many tangents in Paddy's thought process.

Will send on to tantan as soon as I get an address.

Received from fushmush - thanks! It's going on to the currently rather large bookrings pile, and I'll get to it as soon as possible.

Absolutely loved this. Obviously I've never been a 10 year old boy, but Paddy's voice seemed so true to life to me. He had such a unique perspective on life. Despite his violence towards many around him he was endearing and charming, and his love for his family was clear.

There's not an obvious story in this book, and the only continuing thread is the relationship breakdown between Paddy's parents. However, the day-to-day goings-on in Paddy's life are so interesting and readable due to his oft humourous analyses of them.

The Booker Prize winners often seem to be books written from unusual perspectives and with unique takes on life (some of the winners I've liked and some I've hated), and this certainly demonstrated that.
