Book Description:

Bride McTierney has had it with men. They're cheap, self-centered, and never love her for who she is. But though she prides herself on being independent, deep down she still yearns for a knight in shining armor.

She just never expected her knight in shining armor to have a shiny coat of fur...

Deadly and tortured, Vane Kattalakis isn't what he seems. Most women lament that their boyfriends are dogs. In Bride's case, hers is a wolf. A Were-Hunter wolf. Wanted dead by his enemies, Vane isn't looking for a mate. But the Fates have marked Bride as his. Now he has three weeks to either convince Bride that the supernatural is real or he will spend the rest of his life neutered--something no self-respecting wolf can accept...

But how does a wolf convince a human to trust him with her life when his enemies are out to end his? In the world of the Were-Hunters, it really is dog-eat-dog. And only one alpha male can win.

Cute. This series has not been a disappointment. It is really just a romance series dressed up with the supernatural and I am enjoying it.

Sent to Kiki66 by Airmail on Oct 1, which I realize I was not supposed to do. Sorry Kiki for adding to your postage costs. I put both book in a package and never looked at the bookring list.

What a nice surprise to find another Dark-Hunter novel in my postbox today! I'm not sure if I will wait till book 4 arrives to read the series in order ... :-)

Like in "Kiss of the Night" Sherrilyn Kenyon opens another world to the reader! This book does not just tell us about the relationship between Vane and Bride, it also gives us a much more detailed insight into the Katagaria and Arcadian sides of the Were-Hunters. Vane is almost unique amongst his own kind and in the dangerous war between those whose base form is an animal and those who are essentially human, Vane has the rare opportunity to see things from both sides and is one of the few who can determine which of the two races are the animals and which are those who still retain their humanity.
We also meet more of the Were-Hunters including Fang and Fury who (hopefully) also have their own stories still to come and a great many of the inhabitants of Sanctuary.

An excellent story that blends with ease into the world of the Dark-Hunters. I was worried that after the Dark-Hunters I would not enjoy the Were-Hunter story as much ... I am glad to say that I was wrong and the Dark-Hunters and their Squires play still a role. What I missed is the action of the Dark-Hunter books :-)

I received this and Kiss of the Night on Monday, thank you! I'll start on Night Play as soon as I'm finished with Kiss of the Night.

I just finished Night Play. I was going to say that it was my least favorite so far, but the ending was so good that now I'm not sure... On the other hand, why rank these books when they're all really good anyway! :)

Like Rianonne, I was a bit apprenhensive about a story focusing on the were-hunters. But it was really nice to learn more about them, because they haven't had a very big role in earlier books, in it's always interesting to learn something new.

The plot line reminded my a bit about Christine Feehan's Dark-series, but fortunately Sherrilyn Kenyon is a much better writer. I think the first half of the book was weaker than the second half, and there was a lot more sex than in the previous book, Kiss of the Night. Not that I mind, but it always makes me think if the author just needed to write the scenes to make the book a bit longer...

I really liked that Vane actually got meet Bride's parents! It's good that all the relationships in the Dark-Hunter series don't follow the same pattern, but instead every story is different. It was also great to see more of Valerius in this book. Now I can't wait to read the next book!

I'm still waiting to hear from Auglaise. I'll keep on trying to reach her.

This will also be off to Egypt tomorrow. Thanks again for letting me read them!

Update on what is happening with this book:

I posted this to cathepsut in Egypt over three months ago now, and it still haven't arrived. (Cathepsut suggested that the customs men might have confiscated them as the cover art was too much for them to handle.) Because of this, I have bought a replacement, which I will be receiving shortly and then sending to Joasik in the Netherlands as cathepsut does not longer wish to receive the books. I will update with another journal entry when I send it to Europe.

The replacement book has arrived, and although it has different cover art it is the same story! I'm posting it off today, and it will hopefully arrive with Joasik shortly.

I really enjoy this series. In this book Vane really comes to life. I enjoyed reading about the way Vane’s life intertwines with the characters I met in previous books. I would like to read more about Fang and Aimee, maybe in the books to come. I am already devouring the next book in the series. - -
