The author of this book encourages "being there" for your young child in the formative years. She is a bit elitist at times and the writing style is academic, however there is some good information in this book. Although she knows not all families can have a staty-at-home parent, she urges creative solutions to provide intensive parenting for at least a couple of years. I like the fact that she focuses on the needs of the child and urges families to create a caretaking solution that has the CHILD's interests as paramount.
