Sidney Orr was ill - four months he laid in hospital and fighted for his life. Now he's back, but the author hasn't written a page since he left hospital. Could it be that this notebook has some influence on his normal life, that the story he writes in the notebook could change reality?

A fascinating novel and a joy to read. Like any other novel from Auster this book has more than one story to tell - a story inside a story inside a story - but because it's well written the reader enjoys all the twists and secrets that are hidden in this book. A superb book and one of Austers masterpieces.
If you want to start with Auster I think "Oracle Night" or "The Book of Illusions" are the points you should start.
