The Amateur Marriage: A Novel

Picked this up at the Salvation Army bookshelf. Heard of this book and thought it might make a good read.
Sending to fellow BCer, Bakerwhencan, as part of a bookswap!
Received from AtHomeGoddess-- thank you! I'll journal after the read.
This is the first time I've read Anne Tyler's work and I'm sure I will read more. I appreciated her skill in character development, and subtlety, and her insight. This story is not a "happy" one. In fact, there were very few moments of joy. Nevertheless, it was an engaging read for me. It reminded me of Charles Baxter's Feast of Love and Carol Shield's Unless.
I'm going to bring this to my next bookclub to share with anyone interested.

A friend gave me the book as it's a future bookclub read. After enjoying the book immensely, I turned it over to a fellow bookclub member and friend, in Berkeley.
