The Lobster Chronicles : Life On a Very Small Island

Memoirs are my favorite reading of late and this was a really good one - full of quirky characters and set in a uniquie environment, almost a foreign land to most of us. Greenlaw was prominent in "The Perfect Storm" where she was captain of a fishing boat that survived. Taking time off from fishing, she decides to spend time at home on Isle au Haut (pronounced I-La-Hoe) a very small island off the Maine coast, running a lobster trap line with her father. Very interesting and great (real) characters. Good reading. Thought of adding it to my permanent collection but since my pc is again starting to pile up on the stairs, it's time to let a few go. I'll release it within the next few days as we travel south.
When I visited OnParadise in FL, I gave it to her.
While passing through our area of Florida, my dear friend opened my eyes to bookcrossing.com and left this book "in the wilds" of my living room! Not letting moss grow under my feet, I'm anxiously awaiting my first order of release supplies. In the past, I've always passed on my books either to friends or libraries. What fun this will be!
Linda Greenlaw brings the reader to this tight knit island community as a local weaving a story of an existance that depends on the whims of lobsters and those special people who risk their lives on the water. Very interesting to see how each person is accepted into the "family of this community" that is set apart from the mainland. Passed on to my sister ... heading north
