Blurb:
"A stunning and provocative new novel by the internationally celebrated author of The Blind Assassin, winner of the Booker Prize
Margaret Atwood’s new novel is so utterly compelling, so prescient, so relevant, so terrifyingly-all-too-likely-to-be-true, that readers may find their view of the world forever changed after reading it.
With breathtaking command of her shocking material and with her customary sharp wit and dark humour, Atwood projects us into a conceivable future of our own world, an outlandish yet wholly believable place left devastated in the wake of ecological and scientific disaster and populated by characters who will continue to inhabit your dreams long after the book is closed.
This is Margaret Atwood at the absolute peak of her powers. For readers of Oryx and Crake, nothing will ever look the same again."

What a surprise! Thanks peggysmum.
Was just lamenting that with all the rain today it was such a good day to read but have run out of books. And then the parcel man comes with this book!
Looking forward to reading this.

Sorry it has taken so long to journal. Tried on the weekend but PC crashed mid -journal. grrr
Am undecided on how I feel about the book. It is a dark look at the future. Well written.
(I didn't like the end).

Off to waterlogged Victoria.
Thanks so much, Hillcat. The first of my wishlist granted (except for the one I found at the op shop and purchased -- but that doesn't count!)
I'll start it next week and pass it on as another RABCK when I'm done.

After a few sidetracks I finally got to this book. I loved this even tho' I found it very disturbing. Even more disturbing because I finished reading it here in Toronto while visiting my sister. This place is consumer madness! Margaret Atwood's speculation seems even more possible after being here for a week, says the girl from 'the bush'.
I have plans to leave this at a friends in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan! I think he will appreciate this if he hasn't already read it.

Well, am leaving this with a different friend over here in Saskatchewan as she's expressed a desire to read it and is interested in the bookcrossing idea. she won't get to it straight away cuz of work commitments but promised to journal it when she's read it.
