From the back of the book:
For Kivrin, preparing for on-site study of one of the deadliest eras in humanity's history was as simple as receiving inoculations against the diseases of the fourteenth century and inventing an alibi for a woman traveling alone. For Dunworthy and her instructors in the twenty-first century, it meant painstaking calculations and careful monitoring of the rendezvous location where Kivrin would be retrieved.
But a crisis strangely linking past and future strands Kivrin in the most dangerous year of the Middle Ages as her fellows try desperately to rescue her. In a time of superstition and fear, Kivrin - barely of age herself - finds she has become an unlikely Angel of Hope during one of history's darkest hours.

Great story, very original. Historical fiction mixed with sci-fi. When I got to the last section, I didn't want to put it down...I could not wait to find out how it ended. I'm glad I read it.
I'm starting a bookring with this book.

This book is starting its journey...Mailed to LyekkaMarengo in PA today. Enjoy!
Book arrived 2/7/2005. It's 578 pages of very small print but I'll really try to get it done in 30 days or less. I have always liked Connie Willis' other books so I would think this one will go fast.
Thanks time-traveler.

This was a great read. I have read 3 of Connie Willis's books and each one has been completely different than the others. This one had good characters and a strong story line. My only complaint was the ending that left a few loose ends but it may be she is planning another book. With the scenario she has devised it would not be at all hard to turn this into a series. I look forward to reading more of her books
This one is off to alanfoxboro in Hixon,TN - happy reading and thanks time-traveler

I received this book today in the mail. I will post a review ASAP.
Thanks to time-traveler for this bookring and to LyekkaMarengo for sending it on to me.
I enjoyed this book, although it was quite different from the science fiction I usually read. Willis does a great job in character development, a quality that is lacking from most SF authors. The last third of the story was especially gut-wrenching and memorable.
I am sending this book on to sqdancer tomorrow.

I can't wait to start it, but I must finish the ones I'm reading first.
Wow, it pulled me in from the start. I even stayed up late to finish it. Can you believe our local bookstore doesn't have any of her books. I'll have to check in the city this weekend for some of her other books.
Thank you for sharing this book! I will be mailing it this weekend.

Received in the mail today. I don't usually read science fiction but this sounded interesting and I'm trying to branch out. I'll get it read and moving along as soon as I can--bookrings seem to like to arrive in batches for some reason.
Very entertaining book. I preferred the chapters on the past to the future story line. I loved the last 100 pages of the book and the way the writer ended it. Perhaps I will try something else by this author. Thanks Time-Traveler for this bookring. I mailed it off this morning to Sfbookgirl.
I just received this in the mail--I cannot wait to read it! I just finished another book, so this one came at the perfect time. Thanks!
An excellent read, I highly recommend it for time-travel/sci-fi/historical fiction fans! It would be enjoyed by a wide range of readers, which I can't say about a whole lot of books out there.
There were a few leads that I thought would turn out one way, just to see them go somewhere else, so it kept me intrigued. There was some repetition and a few sections that could have been edited out, but I appreciated the author's attention to characterization and detail. Great fun! Passing it on to the next in line...

Doomsday Book has arrived home safely...and it's still in such great condition! Thanks for participating in the ring, everybody. I just recently read Passage by Connie Willis and loved it - I gave it a 10. I think my next Connie Willis will be Water Witch, which is sitting on my TBR shelf.
Now I must decide what to do with this book...
