Wonderful book to make the world a better place. Love the karma bit. Please pass on this book quickly as lots of us want to read it!

January 4th 2005 I will leave a £5 voucher in a telephone box. I'm skint now but it was worth it. I've just given a 4 for the price of 1, spare Walnut whip to the kid behind me in the queue who was buying sweets. Shop keeper looked totally confused! Put a walnut chip in my brother's postbox (he is such a miserable sod!). (No feedback from him).

January 5th. Today I will leave a Walnut Whip in a Vending Machine and leave a chocolate voucher in a free newspaper. I opened a stiff door to a woman with a pushchair and I gave a kitkat to a colleague who was looking at mine on my desk so I have given to him! He tried to give it to me back but I refused. Another happy colleague. Getting carried away but it's fun!

January 10th Sorry ate the chocolates... oops!

RIP JOINEE SEPH LAWRANCE OF CRAWLEY, UK, JANUARY 2005

January 12.Read in the paper today, of the sad news of Seph Lawrence who was a Join Me cult member and died whilst helping others in a RAOK. He had his mobile stolen in the attack. He was found in Goffs Park near Crawley. Think we will do this in memory of him and appreciate even more RAOKS because of him

January 14. Someone slammed a door in my face so I 'cancelled' out a bad deed and opened the door for someone in the same shop, while the 'other person' was watching.

January 17 Received my new bone marrow card, (nifty blue colour), dreading 'a phone call now' but if I get called, will let you lot know.

January 24 Sent a walnut whip & thank you - you are doing a good job' to 'the person who sorts the post' (as per book), to my local financial office (famed for overworking staff and sacking them. Sent someone a walnutwhip who was in debt (got this info from the local paper) who pinched from the office and was sent down to prison (turns out he owned £6000 and got into trouble, lost girlfriend etc). Think ok it was bad but then he could have hurt himself which is worse and sent him a cheery note, that it is not is fault, we are a materialistic country and it is so easy to get into debt). Controversial RAOK ! No doubt all his neighbourhood will shun him.

January 25. It was absolutely freezing and I saw one of these Revenue Protection Officers, who was hanging around at the train stn barrier waiting to collect tickets. I asked how she was and said she was freezing esp her feet. Then I went off to get her a hot chocolate drink from the train stn cafe! She looked at me really surprised (customers and RPI's are like oil and water!) and said 'that is very kind of you'.

January 28 Joined Volunteer Bureau to become a Befriender to lonely peeps.

Next Sat - will treat a friend out for dinner (got an office bonus.Ended up getting a Chinese takeaway!

February - Putting sweets in Bookcrossing bags when releasing them. Valentines Day will do love hearts.

Feb 11 Bought some flower seeds and sent it off to someone in our area who had a nice garden of snowdrops

Feb 16 Sent a postcard with some words of wisdom to a stranger from the local telephone book!

Feb 18 Had a clear out of my books and donated some the local library

Hope to hear what you lot get up to, write down your deeds(s) on line and keep in touch with any new ideas and tips. Perhaps have an Unofficial Bookcrossing Join Me Movement, eh? Love your funny ideas. Make us all laugh and be HAPPY. You are a brave & innovative lot! Will anyone change their name by Deedpoll to Joinee.....?

Easter Sunday gave a pack of Easter Eggs to a shocked, but happy, train driver 'ooh, thanks' in London

Got this today along with a walnut whip. Were they 3 for 2 boxes or something. I don't actually like them so my first act will be passing it onto someone who does. Your journal entry has inspired me so I will do some planning. However it won't be actioned until next week as I'm not actually going anywhere until then.m Oh I almost forgot the hand made card enclosed as well. Thank you.

This was a quick book to read and there are some great ideas in it. Also some that are not so great. Teach a policeman to skip. No honestly officier I don't need a random drug test. However there are several that I do intend to do in the near future and there are some that I already do on a regular basis. I.E. smiling and waving at someone who cuts me up whilst driving. I usually blow them a kiss too. I didn't realise I was being kind I thought I was winding them up. I'm also already a blood doner and carry a doner card and I'm on the bone marrow register. So this book has made me feel good about myself already and thats before I make an effort. Although I will be sending this onto the next person on Tuesday I will make a journal entry stating what else I have done.
Update
When I went to the PO this week I took in a Dutch Apple cake for the staff to have with their tea. I've also sorted through all my money off vouchers and when I go to the supermarket next I'm going to leave the ones I don't need next to the products they are for.
Mon 24th Let a lady with only two items jump in front of me in a long queue at Iceland. Then in the carpark I gave my ticket, with an hour left on it to another mum with a baby.
The flower shop in Sandy Park had early daffs on offer so I bought a bunch for the lady in the charity shop where I buy books. She always gives my toddler a free toy or book. She wasn't there but her friend said she would drop them in on her way home. She said her friend would really love them.
Friday 8th Feb. Took some more daffs into the charity shop. This time the lady was there and was really chuffed. She said the last lot lasted for ages. When I was in the flower shop I paid for two bunches and told the man to give the second to the next customer. As I was leaving an older lady was just going in. I've left my unwanted vouchers in Tescos twice now. And of course I've been releasing lots of books.

Released on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at about 3:00:00 AM BX time (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) at Surface Mail in Fellow Bookcrosser, A Bookray Controlled Releases.

RELEASE NOTES:

Journal Entry 5 by Mamooo from -- Somewhere in Hertfordshire , Hertfordshire United Kingdom on Thursday, January 13, 2005
This book arrived this morning and is just the thing to make me feel better. I'm off work with a chest infection and feeling yucky.

Thank you so much for the Blood Donor leaflets and the Smarties. I'm vegan so am doing my first good deed in passing the smarties on to my boyfriend. So kind of you to include sweeties. He really needs something nice at the moment as he is working *lots* of overtime!

Will be reading this this afternoon and making notes of esp good ideas in my journal. I'm hoping this will inspire me to new heights in the RAoK stakes!

Journal Entry 6 by Mamooo from -- Somewhere in Hertfordshire , Hertfordshire United Kingdom on Saturday, January 22, 2005
I joined Danny almost a year ago but had got rather lapse in my good deed doing. This book has given me loads of good ideas and spurred me on to do more.
I also found the book amusing and liked the fact all the ideas had been tried out and many were suggested by members of the Karma Army.
Anything that spreads a bit of happiness is worth doing i feel and i hope this book influences many others as it has influenced me.

Here were my RAoK on Friday:

Left out a note for my postman - "Thank you for delivering our post." This was hand written on a piece of paper with "This Random Act of Kindness was brought to you by Join Me and the Karma Army. www.join-me.co.uk" typed at the bottom. I popped it in an envelope along with some smartied and starbursts.

Went to supermarket and tidied up all the trolleys in a particular shelter.

Sent two RABCKs and enclosed sweeties.

I'm sure there was something else too - will add to this post when i remember.

Thank you for starting this ring. I hope we all continue to do good long after the book has left us.

Will send to next player as soon as i get the address.

This arrived today with an extra book for my son weebly-boy - thanks Laura. It appears to have skipped someone so should I try and send it to them or go the the person after me?

I am part way through already - but I am finding it hard to do what it says on page 21!

My first act was to pass on the book to my son's friend as he already has a copy of this book - he is now trying to persuade his Mum to let him join bookcrossing so watch this space!

Journal Entry 8 by weebly from Hartwell, Northamptonshire United Kingdom on Friday, March 4, 2005
I read the book last night - it gave me some good ideas and the daft ones made me giggle! I saw them try a few on Richard and Judy a little while ago! It was funny.

I will start to try and do things at random - I am not going to think too hard about it - just do things on impulse then try and remember to report back. This will be posted to peaceangel today.

Update 06/03/05 - After meeting Jacinta yesterday I was spurred to get my impulses firesd up with RAoK! So when out shopping with katweeble yesterday I bought 3 packs of lovely traditional biscuits, then at a carvery meal with our Mum and Dad the waitress was so nice and friendly on what clearly is their busiest and most stressful day we left her a pack of biscuits with her tip - she was very helpful helping my sis chose a Gluten free pudding and brought the raw ingredients for the ice-cream out so she could check the ingredients!

Then on visiting my brother at the hospital we left the other two packs with the nurses - I am sure many of those are Mums too working on Mothering Sunday.

Received this in the post today, along with a mothers day card from my daughter :-), and will send my 2 sons a little something in the post if no card received by Tuesday! My first RAOK today is I phoned a lonely single male (who I definitely DON'T fancy and asked him for Sunday lunch with me and my partner and will cook roast beef and 2 veg plus roasties and apple tart and custard. he seemed really pleased. Glanced through the book, maybe get ideas for some more acts to do today.... its freezing today and a very cold wind, might try giving someone a scarf I don't need! Should be fun!!!

Journal Entry 10 by peaceangel from Holywood, Co. Down United Kingdom on Wednesday, March 9, 2005

Realising I don't think I thanked Weebly properly for sending me the International RAOK book, and all the little pressies that came with it!. I did do two random acts, one out of the book - I gave a shivering teenager a scarf on a cold day, and I aksed a lonely single person for a proper Sunday dinner with all the trimmings! Book now travelling on to ....PORTUGAL.....!!!

Journal Entry 11 by Xanocas on Monday, March 14, 2005
Received it today and already had a good laugh: the book came, among others, with a pack of paper tissues and I just cought a cold this weekend (what a funny coincidence!)

Thanks peaceangel for all the little presents: the postcards, the bookmark, the CD, the pen, the paper tissues, the apple tea (I really like apple tea) and the Irish shamrock - what is it?

Curiosity: the word "Actos", which is inserted in the pen you've sent, is the Portuguese word for "Acts".

Journal Entry 12 by Xanocas on Monday, March 14, 2005
Read it (it's a quick read!). I want to read it again, this time to take note of some of the ideas.

As everybody, I found that some RAOK in the book are not great ideas; some are great ideas; and some we do them in occasions. I intend to do some more.
