I asked for this book for Xmas but I didn't get it so today I bought it myself. I've wanted it for a while but I have to say that I was disappointed. It's quite short (I knew that) and set in Sussex where I live and seemed as if it would be good, but it was not very well edited and not exceptionally well-written in my opinion. Nevertheless, I think it would make an absolutely superb TV film for children and I really hope to see it done one day.

Thanks my friend. As always you are so good to me. I don't know how to repay this karmatic debt. You come through when I need it most!

I savored this book slowly. I don't know enough about your area to tell how much is truth and how much is fiction. Is there any tram, was there a signal house for WWII, any truth to the butterfly subplot? Some of the pieces were just too far out, the troops marching over the edge is too old of a joke...

I seem to be hooked on WWII era reads right now. Fits right in.

Yayyy!!!! The convention patches arrived today! And with them, two books! I'll put this one on my TBR pile for now, but if I haven't managed to read it by Easter, I'll add it to someone's goody bag at the convention.

Thanks, ThanksMom! :-)

A really lovely little novel with more than a hint of magic realism to it. Like ThanksMom, I wonder if any of the details are actually true, but it's the kind of story that *should* be true, just because it works so nicely.

Reserved for release at the NZBC Convention.
