Think I'm becoming a 'true life abuse' story junkie!! This book, however, is one of the better ones around at the moment (IMO). Set in 1970s UK, Kevin paints a bleak picture of his truly dysfunctional family - headed by his vicious and cruel mother. This book follows his life through until the birth of his second child, a son, and his ongoing struggle to put his past behind him. Whilst he is obviously now successful, he still seems, at times, to struggle to overcome his remarkable past.
