I like Amy Tan's books, she's a great story teller. The dual "ghost" story of Misses Moo and Banner was however a lot more compelling and interesting than the modern story of Olivia, Kwan and Simon. The ghosts were also more sympathetic characters. I didn't really care what happened to Olivia and Simon, and found myself reading quickly through those (longer) parts just to get back to the ghosts. The ending of the modern story was predictable, though I couldn't help rooting for the opposite outcome!

It arrived today, I'm looking forward to reading it, this time.
Reading just doesn't get any better than this. This book suspends all disbelief and takes the reader into a very real and magical world. I gripped this book tight.from the first page to the last. A good thing too, if I ever set it down, someone was sure to comment on it. I could see they were coveting it. A good book.
