I've read Maru in Finnish for a Development Studies class. If I ever manage to buy the Finnish copy, I'll release this one.
Edit: I wrote down a fake ISBN to get the cover art (almost) right.

I read Maru again, this time in English. It's a brilliant book: poetic, inventive, intense. Oh yes, and infinitely quotable. Some of my favourites:
"There was a world apart from petty human hatreds and petty human social codes and values whrere the human soul roamed free in all its splendour and glory. No barriers of race or creed or tribe hindered its activity. He had seen majestic kings of the soul, walking in the ragged clothes of filthy beggars."
"He believed his heart and the things in it. They were his only criteria for goodness."
I know someone who wrote their Master's theses about Maru. A good choice, I say. There's a lot going on in this book.
I've changed my mind, and I'll be keeping the English version in my permanent collection.
