I have seen the film but not read the book. The film was wierd so I expect the book to be too. This was passed to me by my parents.
In his prime, Edward Bloom was an extraordinary man. Or at least that's what he told his son. Faced with the prospect of his father's death, William Bloom sets about to discover who the man really is. Daniel Wallace's magical first novel, Big Fish, is told as a series of legends and myths inspired by the few facts that William knows. Through these tall tales-hilarious and wrenching, tender and outrageous-William begins to understand his elusive father's great feats and great failings.

Currently on my TBR pile then reserved for a release challenge I am doing.
Another book from my goodie bag at the Unconvetion. Major thanks to Weebly!
I finally got round to reading this book. I'm a big fan of the film version so I was interested to see what this was like.
The idea of a man's life being remembered through stories really appeals to me. Even after a person dies, they still live on through their stories and the thoughts of those who knew them.
Edward Bloom's life story was told in fairly short chapters with each chapter focusing on aspects within his life. It's told from the point of view of his son who, as his father is dying, realises he never really knew his father. I enjoyed reading the various 'tall tales' associated with Edward Bloom's life which made both snigger and have a lump in my throat.
