The Kite Runner

Excellent book of growing up in Afghanistan, and the protagonist's later emigration to the US. This is not, however a political book. The focus is on his relationship with his childhood servant/friend, and the betrayals and redemptions that ensue. Excellent read.

So what do you do when a friend says they've gotten a book "highly recommended" by a lot of people, but then when she reads it, decides it's not worth the hipe and doesn't pass it on? You wait for it on Bookcrossing!
MartiP brought this to our meet-up today and I have brought it home for the TBR pile. Thank you!

I've tried now twice to start this. It seems Kite Runner and I are not gonna fly together after all. At least not at this time. I feel guilty holding the book up any longer, so shall take it with me as I head up the Northeast coast and see if I meet someone who wants to read it. If not, I'll leave it at an OBCZ. At least that's the plan. We'll see if life gets in the way or not.

I tried to read it and couldn't either. My daughter warned me it probably wasn't to my taste, but I wanted to try for myself.
