Journal Entry 3 by oakalyptus from Hawthorn East, Victoria Australia on Tuesday, January 4, 2005
I went to Gloria Jean's coffee shop to see if there were still any there as listed. Yay! My first catch! I shall read it and report back - it's a big book though, so it may take some time.

Journal Entry 4 by oakalyptus from Hawthorn East, Victoria Australia on Saturday, January 15, 2005
My enjoyment of this book was enhanced by the fact that I was reading it whilst on a driving tour of Tasmania, as it's about the First Fleet of convicts in Australia. Sure, those first convicts landed in Sydney, but the history in which Tasmania is so steeped seemed to be a fitting setting in which to read such a book.

I was hoping to release it in Port Arthur, and did in fact finish the book while we were there, but the spine broke the same day and I didn't have time to go in search of sticky tape with which to mend it. As it turns out, the place I left it is part of the theme, as there is a character by the name of Hawley in the book. I wonder if he'll be turning up for a larger part in one of the subsequent titles. The Exiles is Part One of the six-part series The Australians.
