Journal Entry 1 by Kislany on Saturday, November 13, 2004
Millions of dollars are at stake in a huge tobacco-company case in Biloxi, and the jury's packed with people who have dirty little secrets. A mysterious young man takes subtle control of the jury as the defense watches helplessly, but they soon realize that he in turn is controlled by an even more mysterious young woman. Lives careen off course as they bend everyone in the case to their will.

I already have a copy of it, so this is available.

Reserved for trygvasson (bookrelay).

The jury ran all the way from Cyprus to Hamburg.
Thanks very much - I´ll start reading it right away.

While reading:
I have to look up a lot of the legal terms. Takes away some of the fun - one thing I have learned: Smoking is definitely NOT healthy and I´m very happy that I never took it up.
:-)

The story recounts the multi-million dollar lawsuit - the widow of a smoker, dead of lung cancer, against the tobacco companies.
The legal terms weren´t easy for me. Generally I found the story in parts repetitive - including those legal terms.
I liked the way the reader is hooked by juror Nicholas Easter and Marlee - following their moves throughout the story. As to be expected - this book is more an attack against the companies than against the lawyers - although the reader gets to know about some shady moves on their part.
I liked the twist of the story and the way Grisham keeps the reader on his/her toes. After the first pages I didn´t expect the story to develop that much suspense for me - but well, it did.

Thanks to Kislany for letting me have this - and I´ll try to keep it moving.

Offered in the relay "Already been relayed"
Let´s see where the jury runs to this time.

http://bookrelay.com/relay.php?id=784

I currently don´t have any other book that has already been relayed - so I do have to offer this one again...

I PM´d people from the wishlist-website - paulainen is interested but unfortunately doesn´t have another "already-been-crossed" book... Whoever grabs this up: Could you send it on to her?

Well: noone seemed to want it - except paulainen. So I have PMd her to see if the book should travel on to Suomi.

RELEASE NOTES:

The book will travel to Finland.

I got the book today with the help of our postal service. A major thanks is also due to trygvasson, who was generous enough to send the book to me! (I, as usual, forgot to ask whether she would be interested in some of my books in return but I'll get back to her when the time is right... ;))

I still have a couple of books I wish to read before plungin into this one but it shouldn't take too long. So again, with many thanks, I happily place this book on top of my tbr pile to wait for its turn! :D

The book was actually quite a quick read after I had the time and energy to pick it up. I do know that Grisham's books aren't exactly waht you could call great literature but they sure are entertaining. I just can't help myself but wonder: How on earth does he come up all his plots?

This captivating book and its narration typical of Grisham will travel to Italy with me in the beginning of June.
