The Mammoth Hunters (Earth's Children (Paperback))

I did like this book, don't get me wrong. But for me, the series started on a high with Clan of the Cave Bear and Valley of the Horses, and went a bit downhill. And she is the archetype of a Mary-Sue. Beautiful beyond all belief (but doesn't know it), has a skill of communicating with animals, is an astounding healer, endures rape and hardship, but comes out all the better for it, and is the mother of the human race to come. Most Mary-Sues can't claim that last one, but Ayla sure does. Sometimes during the reading of the book, I just wanted to hit her, she was being quite blind. I like the Mamoth Hunters though, I like the detail the author goes into about using every part of the mamoth. Someone really did their research.

I found the book on a bench at Uvic. I is one of my most favorite books, so naturally it caught my eye. I think it is awesome that someone set it loose at Uvic. Everyone who comes across it in the future, read it !
