A rather depressing (but well-researched) assessment of race relations (primarily African-American and white) in the US today. Pessimistic, but useful, and it contains some scintillating insights.
Condition: This was a text for class, and thus has rather copious underlining and marginal notes. I think they're all in pencil, though, and not horribly obtrusive (in my opinion).
