The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
2 journalers for this copy...
Was wandering around the Goodwill bookshelves today, spending my "November allowance", and couldn't pass this up. It's in great shape, and I've heard a lot about it. Oh yes, and it was cheap :) What more could a bookcrosser ask?
I took a bunch of books with me to the mountains where 20 of us spent our "Christmas break" Christmas 2004. My 91 year old Grandmother's comment after finishing this? "What an odd book!"
I may be moving this higher in the TBR pile!

Since my sister wanted to read this one after I did, I'm taking it with me to read on the plane to California for our cousin's wedding. Then she can have it!
reserved space to write my journal entry on this book
Update November 23: so my first thought is . . . write your journal entry right after you read a book, or you won't remember what to write!
Secondly, I very clearly remember wondering if all the math equations in the book were real. They hurt my head! But I was impressed by them, too. . .
There were parts of this book that were heartbreaking, starting with the little boy not being able to explain the dead dog, and culminating in the whole business with (well, it would be a spoiler, but suffice it to say it was sad).
I do think this book is a good way to help explain autism, in that it's not dry, and gives some insight into that world. On the other hand, does anyone really know what goes on inside the head of an autistic child?
This book is very aptly titled. I really did find it curious.

antof9, my sister, gave me this copy in July - haven't read it yet, but trying to clean off my desk and discovered I hadn't "caught" it yet...
I liked this book and was surprised that my sister who is rather anti-math would have made it all the way to the end. I liked Christopher and agree with ant that this book provided great insight into autism. It was hard to not want to shake Christopher - I really felt for his father. I think mkdad (hee, hee) will like this book. Do you want it back, ant?
