I read this book for a class I had, and still have, called Battle of the Books where we read 27 books and go to competitions to answer questions about the books. It was during the winter, a snow day from school, I believe. I read it in the car on the way to West Jefferson. It went by very quickly. I'm not really sure what it ment, either, maybe the one who finds this will. A boy is a third child, an illegal child. There is a ban on having more than two children in one family, so he has to hide in his attic and not be seen by the Government. Luke one day sneaks out after seeing another shadow child's face in the window next door. He meets Jen, who is willing to risk everything for the freedom of the shadow children. She makes a plan for a rally, and Luke has to decide weather to go, or not.
It's a great book, 153 pages and a young adult book, but I still read the Bearinstein Bears, so this is open to anyone, especially if they want something to think about.
