Picked up this second copy at the Friends of the Library booksale today. This was a fun read and well-crafted murder mystery. It is a must-read for any Asimov fans and general mystery lovers alike.
Trace back the violent death of a friend and see how it happened.

So second-string writer Darius Just is forced to ruminate when murder rears its ugly head within the glamorous world of publishing. For amidst the brouhaha of a convention of American Booksellers, Just's onetime protégé (now best-selling author) Gilvore manages to pull off the publicity stunt of all time: turning up dead.

Convinced that his own sin of omission may have set off a bitter chain of circumstances that caused the death, Just searches out motives to establish a case for murder. And as he does so, his path crosses with all sorts of unsavory types—including one Isaac Asimov, who himself comes under suspicion....

A wonderfully woven, old-fashioned tale of murder in which the pen is indeed proved to be mightier than the sword.

Book is here and I'll read it this weekend. Thank you.

The mystery is well written. And the reader is able to solve it if all the clues are caught. I don't care for the character descriptions, however. They seem very shallow. I'll stick to Asismov's to Science Fiction writing instead.

Read and off to the next in the bookring.

I finished with Murder at the ABA today. Thanks to AnnaLibrarian for the bookring.

I liked this book. I am an Asimov fan, as most SF readers are, but this is the first non-SF mystery of his that I have read. He took a while to get the story going (the actual murder doesn't occur until almost 100 pages in) but his trademark humor kept the plot going smoothly. The gimmick of placing himself in the novel as a character was refreshingly unusual, and the footnotes were hilarious. This was an enjoyable book to read.

HallieK has asked to be skipped, so please remember her at the end of the list. I am waiting on an address for sqdancer, and will send the book on as soon as I receive one.

I am a fan of asimov's SF , so I'm interested to see how he writes mysteries. I have three rings ahead of this one, but I will have it back on the road within a month.

Thanks for sharing, AnnaLibrarian.

Funny, as I was reading the first chapter, I thought of Sharyn McCrumb and her Bimbo's of the Death Sun. Same setting and also a humorus take on a mystery story.

I enjoyed this book. Thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to read it, AnnalLibrarian.

Sent to NeedSun this afternoon, via oversized lettermail.

This was quite the departure from what I have ever read by Asimov. It was not bad but not in the same league as some of his Fantasy and Sci-Fi.

It will go in the mail to Halliek today or tomorrow.

I started this one last night, but didn't get very far. I just didn't like the way it was written and wasn't crazy about finishing it. So, I'm going to send it home to AnnaLibrarian. Thanks so much for sharing and starting this ring!

Mailed out on 6/6/05.
