The Sunday Philosophy Club (audio CDs)
3 journalers for this copy...
This is a RABCK for DebNance! I saw this on your wishlist and thought you would enjoy it! If you already have a copy, I hope you can find this audio book a happy home.
This was a gently enjoyable book, not as good as the books set in Botswana, but enjoyable in a sweet and quiet way nontheless.

All book lovers know that wonderful feeling that comes when you find an author that you are crazy about. That's how I feel about Alexander McCall Smith. I think I'd read his grocery list.
I feel so happy today! Gen "gen"-erously sent Smith's latest concoction to me as a RABCK! I will start it today!
Thank you so much, Gen!

Though I've genuinely loved all Smith's
other small books, I never was charmed by this one. Character and
setting, I've found in the past, are Smith's strengths; in this book,I wasn't terribly interested in Isabel or her niece or Scotland. I kept hanging in there, waiting to get caught up in the story, but
it just didn't happen for me.

I'm so embarrassed to have just discovered that I never did journal this one! Sorry everyone!
I liked this book okay, but I compared it (as I listened) to the other books by McCall Smith that I love so much and it didn't measure up. Probably great if you've never heard the others! I will probably send this to my mum-in-law in england to listen to if this doesn't get sent to someone else soon. Would be willing to trade.

I didn't like this book as much as I had hoped, but I just finished and loved the second installment, so am hoping perhaps this first one will grow on me now that I have caught the charm of the series. I will lend it to my friend MeadowBlue first, though, as she is doing a lot of work that requires interesting listening.
