Not generally my kind of book but I really enjoyed it. I became totally consumed with Grayer and particularly loved pages. 98-100....Guess you'll have to read it to find out why! Enjoy! ~PEACE~

I thought that Nanny Diaries was a good book. I really was drawn into the story and could not put the book down. I finished it in one night! It really wasn't what I expected. I thought it would primarily be humorous; however, it was fairly depressing. I just couldn't believe that someone would treat their child like the X's. Nanny did so much hard work and was poorly treated by the X's. And then for Nanny to get so attached and then have Grayer ripped from her... oh it was so sad! All I could think about was what is going to happen to Grayer, living a life like the one he is forced to live? What type of person does such a life make? His mother reads all those child care books and has "brilliant ideas" about the rearing of her child, yet she NEVER interacts with him! How can she make any decisions on how he should be raised if she won't even hug Grayer?!?! The worse part is knowing that many of the nannies out there are immigrants and they cannot protect themselves against the shoddy (and frankly, evil) treatment by their employers. They are treated as if they are less than human by a bunch of people who live incredibly shallow and meaningless existences. The society ladies look down on everyone else, yet they are the ones who are superfluous and add little value to society.
