This was a very original book in its day, and it is still very readable today, but for the modern reader it does not have as much appeal as it had whenit first appeared. There probably have been too many book slike it. Still, it is very well written and is still very readable.

A fascinating and disturbing look into a futuristic dystopian "civilized" world. Examines themes such as society, conditioning, individuality, happiness, control, and free choice. Well written, it's certainly not perfect, but is a worthy inclusion in the 1001 books list. And with an added bonus of Shakespeare! In some ways this brave new world is already with us...
