From Booklist
This first novel is the journal of Jeremy Reskin, a tenth-grader with atrocious grammar who does not believe in the utility of commas and will stretch sentences across many lines because his writing teacher has told him to express himself. If the plot seems shticky, the book is in fact quite charming and proves surprisingly readable. Without commas (and often without apostrophes), Weisberg admirably captures the inarticulate voice of a suburban tenth-grader. Jeremy plays soccer but hangs out with a foursome who eat outside and smoke cigarettes and, occasionally, pot. Some readers may be frustrated by the meandering plot, and even those who fondly remember tenth grade might wish to be subjected to slightly less ogling of the female form; but Weisberg paints a picture that is horribly and wonderfully accurate. Whether Jeremy is shopping with his sister at the Limited or having amusingly brief dialogues in Spanish with the Love of His Life, Renee, this is a difficult, painful, and painfully funny novel. And just like tenth grade.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

This book reads as if it were written by a tenth grader -- the vocabulary, the spotty punctuation, the use of "1" for "one," "1/2" for "half," "2" for "to," "would of" instead of "would've." Much better than Go Ask Alice, which reads like it was written by a middle-aged psychologist (which it was). Not so heavy handed as to slow down the reader's eye, though. A fun, light read.

Received from the bookrelay site. I have been wanting to read this for a while. Sadly, I have some other books that I "owe" people to read before I can start this one so into the TBR it goes for now.

A quirky book that takes a look at a 10th grade males' thoughts. I found myself skimming over a few parts that I just couldn't take any interest in. Basically a book about findings ones place in life and coming of age. Very different than anything I've read.

Maybe I am getting old (28), but not old enough to have forgotten 10th grade. My friends and I passed notes around all the time and wrote papers for school and they weren't written like this book. I am not saying we were all A students, but we knew a bit more about punctuation. When I read, I like the book to flow, but this felt so choppy to me because of the writing style. It drove me crazy the way he kept using the numeral 1 instead of the word one. I am not an uptight grammar freak, but this story just didn't read well for me. The way everyone kept getting all philosophical by saying things that didn't make any sense was weird too and again is something I don't remember doing at all. Maybe I did and it just made more sense then. Anyway, I don't know why I am complaining so much, I read it all the way through and never felt compelled to give up on it. It wasn't too bad. I just wish it had flowed better.

This book is part of my challenge- Keep Them Moving Release Challenge. This is a challenge I started in which people are supposed to read and release books given to them by other Bookcrossers and do it throughout October and November. I will probably wild release it in the next few days.
