The story of the Brontes.
Picked this up at the Free Shop on Saturday and started reading it while waiting for my family - it's good so far but I need to put it on hold while I catch up on some library books!
Finally got around to finishing this! I really loved it - Lynne Reid Banks is a wonderful writer and she manages to just add that hint of Bronte-esque language to make this novelised biography even better. It's quite a dense read, it took me a long time to get through but I found the story constantly interesting. The hardest part for me was the character of Branwell - all the characters have their problems, which is only true to reality, but his was just so frustrating. I find people like that, who ignore their flaws and constantly let people down without learning from their mistakes, incredibly annoying but it's to Lynne Reid Banks' credit that she managed to paint him so that even I was feeling a certain amount of sympathy by the end. I'll definitely track down the sequel, which is all about Charlotte, the surviving member of the quartet.
