Read it after "the da vinci code" and was utterly shocked.
I really can't confirm that it is the "best and most realistic techno-thriller" (midwest book review)
The story in itself is quite ok but the characters, the most intelligent people in the NSA *sic* are doing quite a lot of very previsible and not very smart moves.
But for a quick course in cryptography it's quite nice :-)
Update 15/11//2204:
Created an _international_ Bookray!
The book travels to:
1. Lowtexx <-- the book is here!
2. trygvasson
3 Kagi
4. you?

das buch ist ganz nett.
Leider fachlich teilweise schlecht recherchiert ... aber soll ja ein roman sein.
Die Bücher werden in den nächsten Tagen wieder auf Wanderschaft gehen.

Here we go - this arrived just in time for my weekend trip and the book will accompany me to the beach - and since we fully expect to freeze and thaw up in front of a fire I possibly couldn´t go without enough reading fodder.
Yupp - the weekend was cold and windy. The fire was badly needed and there was enough reading time to get through this book.
I´m not so sure about the realism... the story was OK for the occasion but I found the characters and their actions not very believable. Especially the scene with the firewalls and the "sharks" - that was definitely over the top and made me laugh.
Break this by thinking about ceasar:
IELKHYLEOOLIPUIT
I´ll send the book on to the next reader.

The book is on its way to Berlin.
Arrived safe & sound in Berlin during my holidays. Picked it up at the post office today. I'm looking forward reading it...
Nice, exciting book, but it seems I get used to Dan Browns style of creating suspense and using cliff hangers. Nevertheless it is higly recommendable.
Because I'm the last one in the ray I set the status of available and wait for requests until I've read the book that came along with this ring. As soon as I finished that one - and 'Digital Fortress' wasn't requested by then - I'll offer both as a double-ray in the fora.

Received as a RABCK from Kagi! Thanks a lot!
I couldn't get into this book and stopped reading after about 50 pages. Just seems like yet another Dan Brown book with the same pattern as his other works. Just plain boring for me. Will send this on as a RABCK to someone who has it on their wishlist.

Received as a RABCK from seacloud49 in Germany. Thanks so much! I'll add this to my TBR pile. Just finished Angels and Demons so I hope I like this one as well.
I enjoyed this book, as I enjoyed the Da Vinci Code. Very similar plot lines and characters. Dan Brown certainly isn't the writer of the century, but I like the fast paced intrigue.
Selling this book at a yard sale/donating to local library.
