My first live catch - nice placement, by the way. Don't believe I worked in a book store as long as I did but never got round to reading GG Kay. About time I fixed that. More when it's read - don't hold your breath, this'll take me a while!

I liked it well enough. It is, indeed, quite epic. Sometimes it seems like it's been written just to be that way. The two page character summary at the beginning ought to be a tip - there's lots of political intrigue and the author seems to be daring readers to play the cliff-hanger game: three characters rush to the scene where someone has been badly hurt, but which one was it? Ha! It was the fourth character you forgot about. Nonetheless, the ideas presented are quite fascinating. An interesting disecetion of the roots of a "religeous" war, where there are sympathetic and compelling characters on all sides. Sci-fi only in the loosest way: the world where the story takes place has two moons. Aside from that, this is more like an historical fiction. Bonus points for having strong female characters.
