Went through a phase where I liked Philip Roth, wanted to read more of his stuff. I didn't read this, but meant to. But I need to downsize my book collection, and this is a casualty.
From the dust jacket:
... is about the life (real and imagined) of Peter Tarnopol, an esteemed young American novelist, who is obsessed with a subject he can neither master nor abandon -- his disasterous efforts to achive a responsible and virile manhood, particularly in the mortifying marriage that reduced the youthful venture to a travesty of itself. Tarnopol can thinka nd write of little but his defeat; My Life as a Man is not a simply about that obsession; it is a testimony to it.
There's plenty more on the jacket, but I'm not going to type the rest. I do like to include some information with the book, in case you're browsing through my shelves.
