This book is hauntingly powerful. It's basically a story about a man that is destined to live on Manhattan Island forever. You see New York City in its infancy and meet historical characters like George Washington. There's a love of the city and of America that is palpable. I didn't give it a 10, because the ending didn't seem true to me. But you may feel differently.

This book lingers with you like an intimate conversation with an old wise stranger.
