The Robber Bride

Have not read yet.
This book was ok, but not nearly as good as others of hers that I've read (The Handmaid's Tale, Oryx and Crake). It was hard to get into, but then once I was into it, I had to find out how it all turned out.
Sent to Maureen.
Thanks for sending this one my way, kelleyanne. I, too, have read a few other of Atwoods works (The Handmaid's Tale, Alias Grace) and enjoyed them enough to add "The Robber Bride" to my wishlist! I hope to get to this in short order, and I will journal again, then.
Roz, Charis and Tony all share a wound, and her name is Zenia.
I finished this over the weekend, and as is typical of Atwoods work, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Its a story of four women, spanning three decades and how their lives came to be entwined. Very entertaining (I loved Roz!), very well-written, and very fun to read (all 527 pages of it!)

I'm adding this to Jenptcfan's "x-chromosome" bookbox.

This came home in my X Chromosome Box. I've never read any of Atwood's work, but I do have another of her books on my TBR shelf and have heard lots of great things about her.
I stayed up late last night to finish this. The back cover talks about how hilarious this book is, and I really didn't see it as that kind of book, though there were a few humorous parts.
In fact, it would be hard for me to assign this book a genre. It's about a bunch of women, but it's not typical women's fiction.
I thought the layout of the book was interesting. I liked how it was told from each of the womens' perspectives and how gradually we were shown how it all worked out.
Did the book say who was responsible for Zenia's end or are we left to come to our own conclusions? I can't figure out if I just missed that or if it wasn't there. PM me if you know.
I think my favoite part of the book was when Roz was describing the series of events to Boyce in "hypothetical" terms. That was one of the main funny parts.
I'll be sending this on in another bookbox soon.

Sent off in a "Well Traveled Books" Bookbox today.
This came to me in my Well Traveled Bookbox. I have enjoyed other books by Atwood and am eager to read this one.
I had a hard time getting into this one, but once I was, I was eager to see how it would turn out. I wasn't really fond of any of the characters other than Roz. I couldn't really understand everyone's devotion to and fascination with Zenia.
I am going to pass this along soon, not sure how yet.
