I love the other two books that i have read by this author.

I know this is going to be equally beautiful, involving and incredible - all the things a good book should be.

Another generous package from Jubby. As i read it a while ago, this copy can go to Leeds meetup at The Wrens tonight as part of the Leeds/Sydney meetup book exchange. Paul Auster is definitely worth the effort it takes to read.

Haven't read any Auster for ages, so looking forward to this. May sit on my TBR shelf for a little while but I will get to it eventually!

Feel very guilty that this has been on my TBR shelf since last September!!! In my defence what was putting me off was the fact that the pages were all falling out and several were missing. Anyway I decided that rather than feeling guilty I would take some positive action - so I have read it up to the point where the pages were missing (enjoying it very much so far) and have bought a new copy to replace it. I will transfer the BCID to the new book.

This is the story of an author, and a comic silent movie actor who saves him from the depths of depression - but then affects his life in much stranger ways than he could have imagined.

As with other Auster the reader needs to be willing to have the status quo torn out from under them at least a couple of times during the course of the story. He excels in putting his protagonists into situations where their lives are turned upside down in the most disturbing ways, sometimes leaving you a bit dazed and wondering what it was all about. Beautifully written though - and well worth reading.

Am going to take this along to the Leeds Bookcrossers' Meetup on Tuesday for Nia, who said she was interested in trying some Auster.
