From the back cover:
Hannah was a "hopeless" child. Everyone agreed on that- public school authorities, psychiatrists, even the mother who loved her but could not reach her. Everyone, except one remarkable teacher who understood what it was like to be eight years old and hurt and angry and confused. A teacher who saw Hannah as she could be rather than as she seemed to be.

Paperback from the 70's, dusted off and registered to be released and shared.

Will be mailing it off to Australia shortly. I actually re-read it real quick one last time, knowing it will head on out... and it seems I liked the book more back in the late 70's when I got it. I think it's because education for special needs kids are SO different today than how they were back then, and also the fact that I now have my own special needs child myself, and my viewpoints are different now. I see special education teachers as Angels on earth, for all the things they have to deal with each day at school. Teaching in itself is not easy, and requires so much patience... but to find a way to unlock the mind of a special needs child... that takes something extra. I find myself getting impatient with my own child, in trying to figure out the "key" to his learning- because so many things he just doesn't seem to 'get', no matter how often we go over it or simplify it. I'm still looking for that 'key'.

Anyway, I hope this book has some great travels now, after sitting on my bookshelf for almost 30 years!

As I have a great intrerest in the mental health of children I am finding this book easy to read and can understand the idealogogy of Mary MacCracken. It is written simply.

I think that the best part of this book is that I have been chasing it for over 15 years now (as I first read it in high school) and thru bookcrossing was able to re-unite myself with the story.

THANKS to Bunnybee from Texas in the USA and her generous spirit sending this book to me.

Wonderful
