Now being offered as an International BOOKRING.
I am willing to LEND books from my personal collection on the condition that you send them back to me when you're done. Please see my profile for details.

Book Description
The dead obey her. The undead fear her. Anita Blake, animator and vampire hunter, lives a dual life—and a dual love life. She's involved with both a vampire and a werewolf in Laurell K. Hamilton's New York Times bestselling novels. But when Anita becomes a wanted woman—with a price on her head—she'll be forced to do something she could never have imagined: choose between them.

"Someone was trying to kill me....
Nothing new there, but this someone was hiring expert help... I almost wished I had been scared. Fear will keep you alive; indifference won't. Somewhere out there, by tomorrow, someone would have my name on a to-do list. Pick up dry cleaning, buy groceries, kill Anita Blake."

  • The above list order may be modified at any time to accomodate new participants or those who withdraw from the ring. So you should always refer to the list included in this journal entry before mailing the book after you've finished with it.
  • After messaging the next person in the list for their address, you should allow at least a week for a reply, to allow for vacations, etc. You may also want to send more than one PM if they don't reply the first time since BookCrossing PMs sometimes get lost in transit. In Search Of (ISO) posts in the Bookring Forum also work well. And of course, remember to check their profile page in case they've posted news of their whereabouts, or an email address that is more reliable than BookCrossing PMs. If you still haven't heard from them after 1-1/2 to 2 weeks, skip them and move on to the next person in the list.
  • Please post a journal entry here (1) when you first receive the book so we all know it has arrived safely, and (2) after you've finished reading it and are ready to send it along. Of course, please include your thoughts and opinions on the book itself too. :)
  • For courtesy sake, please try not to keep this book for more than 4-6 weeks as others are also waiting to read it. If you don't think you can get to the book in that timeframe, you can request to be skipped over and/or added to the end of the ring instead. Just use your best judgement so as not to hold up the ring for all the participants waiting behind you.
  • Late particpants are welcome—PM me if you'd like to join. Be sure to specify which bookrings you'd like to join, as well as your shipping preferences. If you're joining the ring after it's already begun shipping, know that your place in the list will be determined based on your geographic location in conjunction with what is best for the other participants.
  • Please do not ask to join any of my rings if you're not a responsible and reliable BookCrosser. If you happen to see someone in the list who you believe is questionable, please let me know immediately. I do research names I don't recognize and use a number of methods for spotting bad Crossers, but I certainly appreciate any additional info.
  • Remember that at the end of the list, THIS BOOK SHOULD BE RETURNED TO ME, not released into the wild. I enjoy rereading my favorite books over time, and lend them out to other people in my life too, who are not necessarily members of BookCrossing.
  • Note that while I'll certainly take your shipping preferences into account during list ordering, I don't like to stick the same people with International shipping costs every time, particularly for a series of 10+ books such as this. So if you plan to participate in the rings for the entire series, at least 10 of which will be International, I may ask you if you'd be willing to ship Internationally even if you've requested not to at the beginning. I'll try to minimize this, especially if I have enough International shippers to pass the cost around to, but just in case, I figured I'd bring it up so you're not surprised if I approach you about it later.
  • In addition, I like to ask the US participants of my rings who are shipping overseas to consider all shipping options in addition to surface mail. Particularly with lightweight books such as these, Air Mail or Global Priority Mail (GPM) is sometimes a more efficient shipping option for certain countries, sometimes costing as little as 50 cents more, certainly worth it to cut the shipping time down by a month or two. I've even come across a few cases where the small GPM envelope (into which these books fit) is even cheaper than surface mail!

THANKS AND HAPPY READING!

Books 5 thru 8 of the Anita Blake series are heading off to NeedSun in Canada later today (22-Dec-2005) via Air Mail.

The bookrings aren't going to start right away... I need the 4th book to get a little further along first. J, I'll be in contact with you directly to let you know when it's safe for each book to leave your nest and begin it's journey. :) (I need to allow a bit more time between each book like we did between books 3 and 4; the first 3 were too close together and arrived out of order to some people because of that.)

Enjoy these... and the other little goody I enclosed for ya. Happy Holidays!

Journal Entry 4 by NeedSun from Perth Road, Ontario Canada on Wednesday, January 4, 2006
I received the box of books just before New Years Day. I can't wait to read these, the next four in the Anita Blake series. When I emptied the box I also found a beautiful bookmark. Cherie, thank you so much.

Journal Entry 5 by NeedSun from Perth Road, Ontario Canada on Friday, July 21, 2006
I loved this book. So far, this series is getting better and better. I have been reading about how the later books went down hill but certainly not this one.

I sent it by air to Morpha on July 18.

Journal Entry 6 by morpha from Astoria, Oregon USA on Friday, August 18, 2006
Gosh, I'm embarassed. I've had this book for awhile, read it enjoyed it.
Anita continues to experience culture shock as she becomes closer to both Jean-Claude and Richard and once again bumps head-on into wereanimal politics.

Mailed to geniedances today. CheriePie, I have Endicia now and can print my own postage! Faster turnaround as long as I don't lose the book! Thanks for your patience.

Journal Entry 8 by geniedances from Houston, Texas USA on Friday, September 1, 2006
As part of a bookring, this book arrived several days ago. I started reading it today.

Journal Entry 9 by geniedances from Houston, Texas USA on Monday, September 11, 2006
Anita is getting more and more involved with the "monsters". She is coming to grips with the idea that she is actually more like them than she ever wanted to be. While her relationship has intensified with both Richard and Jean Claude, she is getting into a closer physical relationship with Jean Claude. Richard is trying to distance himself from her. Another neew aspect has been added to her working relationship to Edward. It will be interesting to see how things transpire in the next book.

Yay, arrived today! Plan to dive right in!

Journal Entry 11 by wingAramenawing from Noble, Oklahoma USA on Wednesday, October 11, 2006
Finally finished this last night! Every day I thought I'd finish it, and then we'd be busy at work and at home and I haven't had as much time to read! I enjoyed this one though not quite as much as the earlier ones. I was very glad to see Edward turn up in this one (I missed him in the last one!) as he's one of my favorite characters. However, I missed seeing Anita interact with her coworkers! (She does still have a job doesn't she?)

Edited 11/20/06: Due to some changes in the list order and many PMs and emails back and forth between CheriePie and myself, this is finally on it's way to Rhenium3!

Journal Entry 12 by Rhenium3 from Skellefteå, Västerbotten Sweden on Thursday, November 30, 2006

I have to say that the series is looking up. I like the way we learn more about the characters and the way they interact. I missed Larry from the last book, but enjoyed the bits of Edward. The boyfriends are not so interesting as boyfriends, but I enjoy them as monsters. Also really like the way Anita is getting more powerful in her own right.

I'm putting a bit of space between the books, so this won't be going out with Bloody Bones (unless you want it to Cherie Pie).

I recieved two Anita Blakes books couple of days ago, thank you Ulrika.

Throughly enjoyed this book. Was very emotional. Sometimes i laughed, sometimes i cried and sometimes i felt sick! had mixed feelings about richard. loved him in all the other books. thought he was gorgeous, but changed my mind towards the end. Felt the same way anita did, but still felt sorry for him.
This will be posted out tomorrow to gategypsy.

Well, I didn't expect the parcel I received today to be this! Lovely. Thanks for passing this along, GypsyRose02. I'll be reading this and passing along as quickly as I can. Thanks again to CheriePie for sending these all out on their incredibly long journeys! I'm really enjoying the series.

Journal Entry 20 by GateGypsy from Ladysmith, British Columbia Canada on Wednesday, February 25, 2009
OMG, I know this took forever for me to get to it, but get to it, I did! And I even enjoyed it!

This book was definitely more about the evolving relationship of Anita with Richard and Jean-Claude. Though I found her frolicking with those fellows an irritating aside in some of the other books, since it was the main focus of the story here, it made a lot of sense. Anita's feelings on the two men came into clearer focus, but I really have no clue about where the story will be taken now, given the events of this novel. I already have Blue Moon here with me (sounds like more Richard!), so I've sent Killing Dance on to Sonia23 today.

Thanks again, CheriePie, for sharing these books with all of us! I always look forward to the next Anita Blake arriving in my mailbox XD

Received! I'll start this right away and will post again after reading.

Journal Entry 22 by wingmaryzeewing from Taneytown, Maryland USA on Saturday, May 9, 2009
Received safely in the mail today. I should be able to start on this in about a week.

5/14 - Starting on this now.

Journal Entry 23 by wingmaryzeewing from Taneytown, Maryland USA on Thursday, May 21, 2009
I always like the Anita Blake books (at least the ones I've read so far), but I think this is my favorite yet. I enjoyed learning more about lycanthropy. Hot love scene with Jean-Claude, but I'm wondering if we'll see much of Richard in later books. It'll be interesting to see if any more comes of the triumvirate, and how will Anita repay Edward?

Thanks to CheriePie for sharing these.

5/23 update - Mailed back to CheriePie today, Saturday.

Journal Entry 24 by CheriePie from Campbell, California USA on Tuesday, May 26, 2009
This is back home with me now, just in time to get moved on across the country (Mass. to Calif.). I'm glad y'all enjoyed it so much. :)
