A book about travelling around New Zealand on a motorbike.
I'm hoping to go to New Zealand.
The style is a lot like Bill Bryson. Some photos would have been nice but it gives you a good idea of what the country is like.

All packed up ready to send to ermintrude75.
Like I don't need any help dreaming of more exotic climes as the nights draw in and the wind howls... :o) Thanks ReetPetite! Will read and journal as soon as I can.
I rattled through this book on a 3-hour train journey, and very much enjoyed the escapism. From the initial feeling of wanting to shout "silly moo!" for getting such a powerful bike so early, to the later envy as the author really gets into her trip and her machine, this was a fun and easy read. Not to mention the fact that New Zealand is the ultimate holiday destination for many people (me included!) and this book only reinforces that with its tales of breathtaking scenery and lovely people. I'm not sure the quest for the "real" Kiwi man added much to the story, but it did make for some funny moments.
To go on to Auglaise very soon!

Reading this book has made me want to visit New Zealand. I loved the descriptions of the things she saw and people she met. Thank you very much for sharing, and I'll be passing it on as soon as I'm able! ^_^

I had no idea what to expect from this book and after looking at the photograph on the inside front cover and reading that the author worked as a journalist, had no great hopes for it! I was very pleasantly surprised and found myself laughing out loud at certain points. Like ermintrude75, I'm not sure that the quest for 'the real Kiwi bloke' added anything, but the writing conjured up the scenery and people vividly. I will definitely take a look at her first book 'It's Not About The Tapas'. Thanks Rita for sharing.

On its way to YowlYY. Enjoy!
In order not to stay idle on my bed table, I am sending this book to Kangaroo, who will be passing it on to LizzyBee, who will be shipping it back to me, and then I will finally read it :)
The book is being mailed today...see you in a few weeks then!

I am bad and a bit late with my journal entry, but just to say this has arrived safely in Barnet.
Thank you for the postcard Gabriella, it's lovely! I'm going to make room for it on my noticeboard. :)

I really enjoyed this - it was laugh-out-loud funny in places. I kept noting down places to visit when I go to New Zealand, and I must admit that the Museum of Wearable Art ranks high on this list.
The quest for the 'real' Kiwi man was the excuse Polly needed to get out to NZ, and made the book feel a bit more connected together for me. I'll definitely be looking out for her tale of her trip to Spain.
Update, 16th May
Sending on to Liz (who has moved from Barnet to Birmingham!) today.

Received in the post yesterday. Thank you for sending it, Kangaroo - sorry you had to give up trying to meet up with me!
Looks great and I'll read it while I'm up here. Will PM next person for address soon - don't think I've sent to Nebraska before!
Note to self: must PM YowllY to check if she wants it after me.

Just about to finish this - passed the time very nicely on one of my seemingly endless coach journeys between Birmingham and London!
It's well done and amusing - I like the way she admits her fear of the motorbike at the beginning and her relationship with it as their journey continues. Like someone else said, some pics would have been nice, especially as she references *taking* photos all the way through. As I haven't quite got to the end yet, maybe an accident befell her camera?!
Anyway, a good read, glad to have read it and will look out for her other one.
PM'd YowlYY today to check if it's wanted there or in Nebraska next!
24 May - YowlYY not up for it yet so PM'd Adrienne10 for address.

Received in today's mail. I'm slugging through another book right now (slugging -- as in slow moving slugs). If I don't get the other book finished within a week, I'll squeeze this one in, so I can move it along. Thanks for including me on this ring!
I am SO SORRY for having this book this long. When I started it over a month ago, I thought it would be a quick read and asked for LastMango's address. The poor bookcrosser probably thinks its been lost in the mail.
I really enjoyed this book. July has just been a slow reading month for me. And, I will admit, even very interesting travel books just aren't my cup of tea. I also have been reading books about dogs as we are considering getting a dog, so some hours that could have gone towards reading this book have gone towards reading library books.
The tale is fun. Like others, I'm not sure I care about the looking for the last Kiwi bloke. It was slightly interesting, but I was wondering what she would do if she found him. The relationship with the bike was also quite entertaining. I especially liked the "BMW affair." I laughed out loud at this book several times. Thanks so much for sharing!
Now onto the collection of 5(!) ray books that have collected whilst I read this book. (And my mother's upset because I haven't read the new Harry Potter yet and so she couldn't talk to me about it.)

This just arrived in the mail today. I'll read it as soon as I finish Bill Bryson's "Neither Here Nor There". Seems appropriate to go from travelling Europe to travelling New Zealand.
Thanks ReetPetite for starting this book on its travels.

I must be the odd man out on this one. I just couldn't get into it. I've read a number of Bill Bryson books recently and this one just didn't measure up to his standard.
Sent out by mail today to sqdancer.

Received safe and sound. The bookmark is beautiful, ReetPetite.
Very enjoyable book. I've been wanting to go to New Zealand for years, and reading this book has just re-enforced that desire.
Sent via Air Mail this afternoon.

Got this about 4 days ago, but forgot to journal it. Sorry. I'm about halfway through it and loving it. Will get Megi53's address and send it on in a couple of days.
Really enjoyed this book. This is my kind of road trip! Very laid back, meeting locals and learning things from them and just enjoying herself.
Am going to the South Island next February and have read alot about the places she went. Was shocked that she hit hail and cold weather in summer. Will have to revise my packing plans.
Thanks, ReetPetite, for making this available.
Sending off to Megi53 today.

Received late this afternoon in the mail. I'm excited to have it, as I don't sign up for nearly the amount of rings and rays I used to -- a book arriving is a big event now!
I'm on vacation for another week and should be able to read it well within a month. It looks like it'll be fabulous!

Finished this Monday night between trick-or-treaters. It was fun and informative to read. If I ever get to New Zealand, I'll have to investigate Larnach Castle. Dunedin sounds like the city to visit.
I enjoyed the way Polly talked to her Suzuki, and I thought the quest for the Kiwi male did a lot to tie the book together. (Funny about the "male" she encountered at the very end!)
Other highlights for me were the sheep shearers on the job (not letting their hair down in the evenings, ::shudder::), the keas in their nests of snow, and the dreadfully extreme tourism adventures in Queenstown.
Now I want to put It's Not About the Tapas on my wishlist!
Mailing back to ReetPetite by the end of the week.
