I looked in the mailbox today and found a nice surprise. :)

Thank you so much for being willing to send me books that are on my wishlist. I will try and get started on these after I get back from vacation.

I am going to ask my neighbor to see if she is interested in borrowing this book and reading it before I do.

Caught in Kaiserslautern, GERMANY!

Journal Entry 6 by crrcookie from Tecumseh, Oklahoma USA on Sunday, July 31, 2005
My neighbor (blossom22) just returned this book to me with a note that says she enjoyed the book very much. (For some reason I can't get her to make journal entries ... ahh well I guess some are not as BookCrossing crazy as I.)

I plan to read the book soon so that I can discuss it with her.

Journal Entry 7 by crrcookie from Tecumseh, Oklahoma USA on Monday, September 5, 2005
I plan to take this book on vacation with me. Germany to Oklahoma (USA) via military space available flights, it makes for a real interesting travel experience often with lots of wait time for reading.

I plan to take a notebook with me to record my thoughts about each book and I plan to edit this space with more specific details when I get computer access again. I will make release notes also (unless we are lucky enough to get a journal entry before I get computer access again).

From the back cover:

What would you do for someone you love?
Would you leave? Would you kill?

MERCY

Police chief of a small Massachusetts town, Cameron McDonald makes the toughest arrest of his life when his own cousin Jamie comes to him and confesses that he has killed his terminally ill wife out of mercy.

Now a heated murder trial plunges the town into upheaval, and drives a wedge into a contented marriage: Cameron, aiding the prosecution in their case against Jamie, is suddenly at odds with his devoted wife, Allie - seduced by the idea of a man so in love with his wife that he'd grant all her wishes, even her wish to end her life. And when an inexplicable attraction leads to a shocking betrayal, Allie faces the hardest questions of the heart: when does love cross the line of moral obligation? And what does it mean to truly love one another?

Journal Entry 9 by crrcookie from Tecumseh, Oklahoma USA on Friday, September 30, 2005
I managed to read this book while on my trip to Oklahoma but it has taken me this long to get around to making a journal entry about what I thought about the book.

There were several parts of the book that I thought could have been cut out and it wouldn't have hurt the story any. There were several times that I found myself wondering why that section was included and it seemed that some parts were just out of order for the flow of the story.

Other than that I did enjoy the book and I thought that it had some really interesting points about what it means to love someone. I don't want to give away the outcome of the trial but I do want to say that the outcome was the one that I would have voted for had I been on the jury.

I just wish that Cameron and Allie could have had a different relationship and that they would have been better able to communicate with one another to avoid the hurt, betrayal and infidelity that came about in the story.

I will try and find someone to give this book to on my return trip to Germany but if I don't find anyone to hand it off to then when I get back home I will offer this book as a Ray It Forward or other mail release.

Well, I didn't encounter many people that looked like they needed a book to read in their travels so this book made it all the way back to Germany with me. I plan to post on the forums soon an offer to send it out as a Ray It Forward in hopes that it will get many more readers.

This book is a ...

“Ray it Forward”!

Let me try and explain what a “Ray It Forward” is. More or less it is the lazy way for me to set up a common BookRay. Ordinarily a BookRay has a list of participants and it gets mailed down the line to the last person who does whatever they wish with the book. Well, I have no desire to maintain a list so this is what I figure. I’ll find the first person that wants this book and send it to them. I just ask that they pass the book along “BookRay” fashion when they are done with it.

If you are in possession of this book then please look for another BookCrosser to pass it to. Check the wish lists, the forums, a yahoo group, the BookRelay, or offer it at a meeting …whatever way you choose to pass it on is up to you. If it seems that no other BookCrossers want it then send it along its way as a wild release.

What are the advantages of Ray it Forward?

Time frame – I ask that you pass the book along in a couple months or so but because there is not a “waiting list” the time is a little more relaxed than a standard BookRay.

Shipping Preferences – Choose your own. If you need to post within your own country then do so. If you choose to send international that is great too. If postal costs are a problem right now then hand it to another BookCrosser at a meeting, release to an OBCZ, or just wild release the book.

Less Stress – I am trying very hard to let this book go but I do want it to travel … so try your best to help it along its way but I hope that the relaxed time frame and few restrictions will keep the stress level down about what to do with this book just as soon as you are finished with it.

Have a great BookCrossing Day!

Received today from Lil-Snoo. Have one book to finish before this and can't wait to start this one. One of my favorite authors. I read pretty quickly so I'm going to start looking for the next person. =)

This is the second book by this author I have read and am adding her to my list of favorites. It took me a little while to get into the story, but once I did I couldn't put it down. In so many of the situations in this novel, I found myself wondering, "What would I do?" Absolutely a page turner and thought provoking book.

Passing it on today to tenneh who has accepted the Ray-it-forward.

Journal Entry 17 by tenneh from Verdon, Nebraska USA on Monday, April 24, 2006
Received this Ray-It-Forward book today. My favorite author! I look forward to reading it. Thanks.

Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors but I thought this one was a bit too slow paced - I kept losing interest. The plot was interesting and the story very real, but for some reason I found it hard to stay interested.

I'll will be looking for someone who wants to accept this Ray-It-Forward book. Thanks!
