Got this in the mail today! I can't wait to read it. :)

I have one bookring ahead of this, but should be on this before the end of the week.

Update 1/5- started reading!

Journal Entry 11 by Bunnybee from Amarillo, Texas USA on Tuesday, January 11, 2005
What a moving novel- I loved it!! It drew me in and I felt like I was right there for everything that went on. Just enough descriptions to paint a clear picture, but not to drag the story out. And the love you can just see and feel between the women characters- even when they fight, you can still feel the love behind it. Parts of it made me teary-eyed... & parts made me want to dance with them. I just loved this book!

I will highly recommend this book to any and all women I know. There is just so much depth to the characters that you can find yourself in someone, even if it's little bits of each character. I want to say it's the best book I've read all year- but I don't want it to sound like a joke because the year just started (lol)... but really- it's the best book I've read in the past 10 or 20 books I've recently finished. And definitely the best book I've read so far this year. ;-)

Thank you STORMYBREEZE, for sharing this wonderful book with us!

On its way today to teenage-faerie in Tennessee. Happy travels!

Arrived in my Post Office Box this morning. I've heard so many good things about this book (which are echoed by the previous readers here), so I'm looking forward to reading it. Thanks FiBe for offering this on BookRelay and sending it to me here in New Zealand.

Journal Entry 22 by Alectoness from Geelong, Victoria Australia on Tuesday, August 30, 2005
Started this book yesterday afternoon, and couldn't stop till I was finished. A lovely and moving story, full of complex characters, and set in a time and place that was both interesting and believable.

I particularly liked the first third of the book. I found myself very much on the side for both Lily and Rosaleen, cheering for them as they escaped. However, I felt the book slowed down somewhat once they reached Tiburon. Lily’s reluctance to tell the truth just dragged on a little bit too long, and I missed Rosaleen as she disappeared into the background.

But I love the ending: how it’s not ‘sweet as honey’, how things don’t work out quite okay, how there’s still confusion and blame but also hope.

I also enjoyed reading the interview with Sue Monk Kidd at the back – I hope she does end up writing a sequel to this book.

Enjoy!

Journal Entry 26 by DianaCoats from Hillsboro, Oregon USA on Sunday, October 2, 2005
Thanks JDT...received today as another wonderfully generous bookcrosser saw it on my cliff1976 Wishlist. Can't wait to read it...

Journal Entry 27 by DianaCoats from Hillsboro, Oregon USA on Saturday, December 24, 2005
I adored the book. It is hard for me to "rate" books or compare them to others--I never think that's fair. But I can say that I now have a profound appreciation for bees! And...I definitely want to belong to the "Daughters of Mary" AND sign me up for the drive up mortuary! What a hoot!
There was not one page that didn't fit and add to the depth of the story. Accomplished and inviting I was moved many, many times by simples lines like, "My mother's life was too heavy for me". Speaking of Mothers...I have loaned this book to mine and will do a wishlist search for another reader when she is done. This book has had many loving readers and journalers. Thank you again, JDT.

Journal Entry 28 by DianaCoats from Hillsboro, Oregon USA on Saturday, December 31, 2005
My mother shared my admiration for this book and whizzed right through it. It is hard for me to find a book to share with my Mother...What precious little reading time she has is spent reading her Bible. I stuck this one in her hands a few days ago and between her and her cat, it is finished. She loved the book...laughed out loud now and then...was saddened when appropriate and, generally, moved by the adventures of the bees and their humans.
I have offered this to another bookcrosser with the assistance of our dear friend cliff1976.

Journal Entry 29 by DianaCoats from Hillsboro, Oregon USA on Monday, January 2, 2006
This is book is travelling to another bookcrosser, Muzette, in Quebec. I'm sure it will enjoy its travels from the great Pacific Northwest to our good Canadian friends. Thanks again, Cliff1976 for setting up yet another blind date. Oh yes, and Andie ALWAYS accepts hugs from bookcrossers. Thank you.

Journal Entry 30 by muzette on Monday, January 30, 2006
Thanks! The book just arrived. By the way, the mouse is a HIT!! Cat going totally nuts over it!;-)

Journal Entry 31 by muzette on Sunday, June 11, 2006
Finished the book last night and I have to say that I loved the story, for all its simplicity and heart! I needed to read that passage:

"When you're unsure of yourself, she said, when you start pulling back into doubt and small living, she's the one inside saying, Get up from there and live like the glorious girl you are. She's the power inside you,you understand."

July 18, 2006 Sent to cat207 as a RABCK.
