Releasing to OneMorePage for her son
Releasing to OneMorePage for her son
My seven year old son liked this one better than the first! He thought it was better because it had "more ideas". When I pressed him for what that meant, he said he liked that Brian had to think so hard to figure out how to understand nature. He had to create tools and invent things (snowshoes, a lance, etc.) It was very dramatic. We both thought it ended rather abruptly - we would have liked more chapters about the Cree family and about his rescue. We really liked the Thanksgiving scene, when Brian gives thanks for everything that he has in the wilderness.
On the plus side, this book never mentions his parents divorce or the "secret" of his mother's affair, so I didn't have to edit that out as I read. A couple of the hunting scenes were too gruesome for my little guy, so I edited those as well.
