"Zenia is beautiful, smart and greedy, by turns manipulative and vulnerable, needy and ruthless. She is also dead. Just to make absolutely sure Tony, Roz and Charis are there for the funeral. But five years on, as the three women share a decorous lunch, the unthinkable happens: 'with waves of ill will flowing out of her like cosmic radiation', Zenia is back..."

I enjoyed this book a lot, but the ending was disappointing. A book this good would have deserver a more clever ending. Now it seemed that there was a longer story to be told, but the writer needed to stop quickly beacuse the book was getting too long. Too bad, because the first three quarters of this book are very good.

I enjoyed this book immensely but would have preferred a better ending. I agree with Tintti, it did seems as of Atwood suddenly finished the book because she was worried about the length. I found the characters fascinating though but would have liked a little more on their relationship with each other as well as with Zenia.

Found this on my shelf about a month ago. I'm dawdling my way through it. Bout halfway at the moment. They just revealed that Zenia is dating Roz's son, which I saw coming, but I know it's only going to get worse... I took a break to read The Straw Men by Michael Marshall (which was really really good) and have started another book as well but I haven't abandoned this one. Just... I've been depressed lately and would rather read something lighter until I feel better, or until I feel like wallowing in my depression.

Journal Entry 8 by Amaranta20 from Seattle, Washington USA on Monday, May 15, 2006
When I did pick up this book again I found myself absorbed in it fairly quickly, which lasted through the end of the book. It wasn't as depressing as I'd feared. I understand the comments about how it seemed like Ms. Atwood was wrapping things up too quickly at the end. She could have gone more slowly, added more detail, which would have been consistent with the rest of the novel. But I was ready to find out what happened and I didn't mind the change of pace.
