I greatly enjoyed this book. I'm from New England, and I spent summers working in summer communities during college.
While not all families have the rich background that Colt has, many summer 'camps' or 'cottages' that have been in
New England families have similar smells, history, and memories. I read this while on planes and travelling for work, wishing I could be in Maine at a summer cottage. I remember the smells and sounds he describes.

Grazie, svetlanazukas! (we'll have a cappuccino in Florence in your honor!)
A wonderful, detailed, loving memoir of a 100 year old summer home at Cape Cod; of the people in the four generations of a proper Bostonian family who summered there; and of the author's memories of the family, place, typical activities, and experiences over the years.
Sending on to VH-50 - part of a book relay.
Enjoy!

Received from JDT through a book relay. I'm looking forward to it, as I've spent 40+ summers in a (much less grand) house that--like the one in the book--is on the coast of southern Massachusetts (you could sail from mine to his and back in an afternoon, if you caught the tides through Woods Hole right) and has been in the family for generations.
