I loved this - I kept having to put it down to do stuff and finding myself thinking about the characters and when I could get back to them. I'm glad I read this after The Reading Group because I'd not have enjoyed that after this one! It was one of those books you are sorry to finish, no *huge* literary merit (though not badly written at all) , but an amazing grasp of human emotions and experiences. I could relate to so many different parts of each woman's life. I'd love to join a RL bookgroup like this, but I have a feeling that a lot of them are a bit more " look how clever I am" and a bit less " my bookgroup buddies right or wrong" :-(
I have plenty BX buddies though :-)

Recommended to me at a stitching show last november (when I was campaining for bookcrossing!), I was pleasently surprised that this was such a enjoyable read.

Enjoyable read, spanning lots of life events. I did sometimes get confused about who she was talking about - could have done with better editing.

Brought it to the november BCie meeting last night. I'm not sure if someone took it.

An interesting read, five women who live near each other take time for their sanity in a bookgroup as their lives go on, being there at the various stages for each other.

I caught this book after wandering into the pub to look for the OBCZ. I had to shove/politely move people eating their lunch of the way. Thanks to nut for passing on the details of this OBCZ!

I finised reading this book last night and it was pretty average in my opinion. I wasn't entirely keen on the writer's structure such as writing in first person for some characters but not for others. It did take me a few chapters to realise the host of that meeting was usually the one talking in first person. Then she would switch to another character halfway through the chapter.

I did wonder who was the cancer patient and was quite surprised when it was revealed who it was. That particular character comes across as being very strong though she did say on the last page that she hated books with crappy endings. A thought probably shared by most booklovers :-)
