Breakfast at Tiffany's, one of my all time favourite books and one of my all time favourite movies, although the book is darker and quite different to the movie.
Holly Golightly must be one of the most wonderful characters ever written and I always think of her when I have the 'mean reds'.
A classic.

Into the Purist's Bookbag
I grabbed this one out of the Purist Bookbag. Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of my favourite movies and I am curious to read it because of what kirst040 wrote . . . "darker and quite different to the movie".
As I was reading this book, I was comparing it to the movie. Not sure why the movie altered from the book, although in those times maybe you couldn't portray drug busts etc?! I have never read any Truman Capote books (didn't even know Breakfast at Tiffany's was one of his), but I found myself loving his writing style. This book included 3 short stories at the end which were amazing. He can put so much detail, get the emotions and give colourful descriptions all within a short story. Capote is out in theatres and from how he is portrayed in the movie, I would never have guessed he could have written so beautifully and lively. Such a good book, not sure what my release plans are at the moment.
I just finished watching the movie and realized that the movie followed the book quite closely. They did alter a few things, but not too much. Initially, I thought the drug bust wasn't in the movie, but I was wrong. So much of the dialogue was taken straight from the book. The movie complimented the book just wonderfully.
Mailing as a RABCK to silvermoonwyrm. LOVED this book, hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Yay!
My first RABCK drawing winner!
Pity it's got to go straight to Mt TBR though lol. I'll get there eventually...thanks again michyj!

I didn't see much difference between the book and the movie. The short stories at the end were great though.
Ooohhh. I'm really looking forward to this one. Thank you Kris Kringle (aka Susan!)!
Now onto Mt TBR with you little book.

Read and enjoyed this one whilst at my sister's house in Coffs Harbour over the Christmas period. I'd actually read this book ages ago, but had forgotten much of the content. Holly Golightly is certainly a 'harder' character in Capote's novella than in the famous Audrey Hepburn movie, and I found reading this story more moving than the somewhat saccharine film it inspired. Forgotten what a good writer Capote could be - what a sad life and wasted talent - if only he'd done more!
Didn't have a chance to make release notes at the QANTAS club in Sydeny on my way back home... but figured... what the heck.. it probably won't get journalled anyway, and I'll make release notes when I get home.
Well.. I get home and wow! (see below!)
Hope the anonymous finder enjoys this one!
