Lidsey likes the "white devil" in her politically correct office. But will Grandma's stinky Chinese oint-ments send him running?

This book is going to someone in Texas.

Thanks so much for this one from my wishlist. It looks humorous, just what I need right now. I'll be sure to pass it on when I'm done.

I really enjoyed this one- a light fun read with an interesting multicultural aspect to it. If Amy Tan wrote chick-lit, this would be it!! I don't tend to read much chick-lit but this one may have changed my mind.... It had some themes about fitting in, figuring out who you are, and understanding your heritage, as well as the romantic plot going on. I hope to turn this into a bookring.

A light read that is fun. I think I know some "Hoarders." It was interesting to read about some of the Chinese culture from a unique perspective.

Sending off to the next participant.

Light, fun reading with a cultural lesson as well. Living in the San Francisco area, I have walked some of the streets in the story and I can visualize the area in my mind. Made the book that more interesting.

Will be sent on 1/7/05 to Mokona, the next person in the book ring.

Journal Entry 9 by Mokona from Clinton Township, Michigan USA on Thursday, January 20, 2005
1-20-05: Rcvd in the mail yesterday afternoon & started reading. Icesong927 is next on the list, and I will mail it on ASAP.

1-22-05: This was a pretty enjoyable story, I loved the ending. I like how she really came to realize how special her family is and her life has been. And not in a sappy cliche way, very subtle.
(And, not to go on a tangent, I completely love the page on the Hello Kitty toaster. I had to make my boyfriend read that page so he could understand I'm not alone in my slight obsession with my toaster. I wonder if the writer also has a secret stash of Kitty products... Hmm.)

I will mail this to Icesong927 on Monday, weather permitting. :) Thanks again affinity4books for this bookring!

I'm so sorry - I went to make a journal entry about this book and found that I never acknowledged receiving it! My apologies!! I have finished reading the book and liked it a lot!! I have a couple of Chinese friends and I really thought of them as I read this as they both tend to keep their Asian side to themselves just as the main character in this book does. Very interesting and I hope to read more from this author! Thanks for sharing the book. I will be mailing it out tomorrow morning to AceOfHearts, next on the ring - ENJOY!

What a fun, light read. I had to laugh at some of the family get-togethers. Reminded me of some of ours. Lindsey really tends to her grandmother and we might all take a lesson from that.

Sorry for the delay guys, I've been busy over our Summer holidays with kids etc.
I Pm'd in December but I don't have an address yet from Readinator.
I've Pm'd again today...so I'll give it a few more days.

Journal Entry 23 by whitequeen from Ipswich, Queensland Australia on Monday, February 6, 2006

Journal Entry 24 by Readinator from Woodend, Victoria Australia on Friday, February 17, 2006
Received a few days ago, and I've powered through it!

Enjoyable chick-fic with a Chinese twist. It was fun to read about the heroine's search for love as a 3rd generation Chinese-American.

Thanks affinity4books for sharing this one! On to New Zealand when I have the next participant's address.

Journal Entry 25 by Readinator from Woodend, Victoria Australia on Wednesday, April 5, 2006
Posted to Kiwiwonder on 4 April. Sorry for the delay in sending on. Impending nuptials, Commonwealth games and extreme busyness have conspired to keep me unorganised in every other aspect of my life!

Thanks affinity4books for sharing this one. I don't think I would have had a chance to read this otherwise!

Journal Entry 26 by KiwiWonder from Auckland, Auckland Province New Zealand on Sunday, June 11, 2006
Many apologies - I've had this book much too long, and didn't realise I hadn't even journalled it!! Since I've had it, I've made several attempts to read it - and finally around page 100 I gave up. It's not that it's a bad book - rather, it's just not holding my interest. I find that once I put it down I'm not left wondering (or caring) about the characters or what happens... and thus I'm going to pass it on, unfinished. It's the first bookring I've done so for... but I just don't see the point fighting with it.

PM'ing next in line for address.

Journal Entry 27 by katayoun from Tehran, Tehran Iran on Tuesday, July 4, 2006
thanksssssssssssssss! it's here, got one book before this and then i would start this one.

Journal Entry 28 by katayoun from Tehran, Tehran Iran on Thursday, July 6, 2006
i've got this thing for anything from/about far east!!!! and so the book just sneaked it and asked to be read...and oooh it had so much promise and yet for me atleast it didn't deliver. the style of writing was not at all appealing to me, though i think this changes from person to person (like i really don't like the kinsella books and then there are so many fans out there that really like her writing) so i could see that it was just me. and i must say that i really, really liked the last couple of sentences, i suppose i wanted more amy tan and recollections thrown in!
thanks so much for the ring and it's ready to be mailed, haven't heard from walkthrulife yet, and am going to try another pm and also check with CandyDarling, just to be ready!

Journal Entry 29 by katayoun from Tehran, Tehran Iran on Tuesday, August 1, 2006
