Foxfire: Confessions of a Girl Gang

Ok, so maybe it isn't the best novel I've ever read, but it is gutsy & kept me hooked.
My high school days are far behind, but I still remember the cliques and viciousness (and riproaring fun) that were part of everyday life. And there was always a charismatic girl like Legs around to keep us on our toes....
Joyce Carol Oates is interesting to me in part because she is one of today's most prolific writers--she's always releasing something new. This productivity is wonderful, although I've sometimes wondered if the quality of the writing suffers a little bit. The novels are always much looser stylistically than her carefully crafted short stories.
What do you think of this one? I'd love to see your comments!

I was walking around the quad on the campus of the University of Alabama at night after I gt out of the library the other night. I saw the book sitting on the edge of a garbage canister. I picked it up and am now on the site checking out the history on it.
